Access Cluster Lead - Climate-Neutral Cities Taskforce Coordinator - Urban Nodes Taskforce Co-coordinator

Marko joined POLIS in January 2022.

As lead of the Access Working group and Urban Nodes Taskforce, his main task involves coordinating and leading the network’s activities on topical issues related to SUMPs, TEN-T, urban space reallocation, and the peri-urban component of transport strategies.

He is the coordinator of the Climate-Neutral Cities Taskforce, focusing on the transport component of climate city plans. As a SUMP expert, Marko is covering POLIS projects dedicated to transport data analysis and management, transport governance, and peri-urban mobility, including REFOCUSBIO-INTEL-MOB, ALTHEA, MONA, Tips4PED, and TRUST.

He has extensive experience supporting cities in formulating effective measures for SUMPs, urban space management, and data-driven planning. Prior to joining POLIS, he served as a Policy Advisor for CIVINET Slovenia-Croatia-Southeast Europe (SEE). He was a part of the team developing the first SUMP in Croatia and a SUMP consultant in Southeast Europe. Marko holds a MSc in Spatial Planning and Regional Development and a BSc in Applied Geography.
