MONA Webinar: Removing Barriers – Bringing tourism and mobility sectors together
How can the tourism and transport sectors work together to make travel to nature areas more sustainable and accessible?
As more people visit natural areas, the pressure on ecosystems and local communities grows. The tourism industry needs to reduce emissions and shift towards sustainable transport—rail, coaches, cycling and walking—but this transition only works when tourism and mobility sectors collaborate effectively.
This webinar, organised by the MONA project, brings together experts from across Europe to share practical approaches to destination management, governance models and strategies that demonstrate what cross-sector collaboration can achieve in practice.
Speakers include Cristina Núñez (NECSTouR - Network of European Regions for Competitive and Sustainable Tourism), Ioannis Anastasakis (Region of Crete), Froukje Bekius (Nationaal Park Utrechtse Heuvelrug) and Cristina Pou i Fonollà (Generalitat de Catalunya). The session is designed for transport planners, tourism managers, policymakers, nature area managers and anyone interested in sustainable mobility and tourism.
