ONGOING SERIES
Data standards and specifications in urban mobility
FOUR AVAILABLE MODULES – MORE COMING SOON
Urban mobility is becoming increasingly complex, with digital tools and services depending on structured, interoperable data. Recent EU legislation—most notably the revised ITS Directive—introduces new responsibilities for local and regional authorities to adopt common formats for multimodal travel information, UVARs, and traffic circulation plans. However, many administrations still face challenges in identifying which standards and specifications are most relevant, how to apply them, and what benefits they can deliver.
This POLIS tutorial series focuses on real-world applications and tangible benefits, helping POLIS member cities and regions understand, implement, and work with data standards. It also creates a space for dialogue with standard-setting bodies, ensuring the collective voice of local authorities plays a stronger role in shaping Europe’s digital mobility future.
The first modules introduce widely adopted standards and specifications used by public authorities around the world, offering practical insights into their implementation and value. Looking ahead, the series will continue in 2026 in collaboration with NAPCORE, expanding to cover further standards central to European legislation and practice, including SIRI, NeTEx, and DATEX II.
Dates for upcoming modules will be announced soon.
