Learn from Mission Cities and join peer learning acitivities in 2025

As part of the EU Cities Mission, the Mission Platform managed by NetZeroCities has been supporting 112 Mission Cities selected by the European Commission as they strive to reach climate neutrality by 2030.

The Mission Platform is now offering peer learning opportunities with Mission Cities and access to related online resources, designed to support cities committed to climate-neutral targets. These opportunities are open to all cities across Europe and Horizon-associated countries that are not Mission Cities but aim to advance towards climate neutrality.

With this engagement campaign, the aim is to showcase the opportunities available to all the ambitious cities across the EU and Horizon-associated countries to learn from Mission Cities’ and their climate neutrality journey. This supports the EU Cities Mission's second objective: ensuring that Mission Cities act as hubs of experimentation and innovation, enabling all European cities to become climate-neutral by 2050.

What is in for cities

If your city is not part of the 112 Mission Cities but you want to reinforce and accelerate climate action towards net zero in your city, you can benefit from an opportunity to learn from Mission Cities, drawing on their experiences and strategies. This will be done through peer-learning opportunities, such as twinning programs, online discussion groups and study visits with Mission Cities.

In addition, a suite of tools, resources, and collaborative services is available through the NetZeroCities Portal. These will empower city practitioners to overcome barriers to climate action, starting with the Climate Transition Map, a strategic tool guiding cities across sectors to overcome challenges and achieve climate neutrality. A series of Support Pathways has also been designed to help you identify starting points for your journey, depending on your specific local context.

Coming in 2025:

  • Self-Assessment tool
  • Dedicated Workshops and academically accredited courses
  • Tool Training Series
  • Capacity Building Learning Programme

How to join

A dedicated Helpdesk is available to help cities as they navigate tools, resources and peer-learning opportunities available. To find out more on how to get started, you can simply follow NetZeroCities’ step-by-step guide. POLIS encourages all cities to engage with the Mission Platform to unlock resources and learning, accelerating your city's path towards climate neutrality.
