As the regional transport authority, they oversee and subsidise public transport services, promote cycling through regional bike routes and parking facilities, and finance infrastructure upgrades. Their approach prioritises both safe infrastructure and responsible behaviour to reduce traffic casualties. With a broad and diverse regional profile, Vervoerregio Amsterdam is keen to strengthen its engagement with POLIS, addressing the full spectrum of mobility challenges across the network.
On 31 October 2023, they adopted a new Mobility Policy Framework, 'Connecting through Diversity', which serves as the region’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP). This strategic document outlines their ambitions and objectives, guiding all mobility-related activities and investments in the Amsterdam region.
