Registrations are open for EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK 2026

Registrations are now open for EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2026! Each year, thousands of cities, towns, and local authorities across Europe are joining EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK from 16 to 22 September and showcasing their commitment to sustainable urban mobility.

The 2026 campaign continues the focus on 'Mobility for Everyone', with a special focus on the importance of intergenerational fairness and building transport systems that work for all age groups while keeping future generations in mind. Under this theme, the campaign encourages participants to envision transport systems that are accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the different mobility needs and challenges of current and future generations.

In 2025, 2,771 cities and towns registered for EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK and over 880 MOBILITYACTIONS were submitted. This year, make sure you take part in showing your commitment to sustainable urban mobility too! Whether you are organising a city-wide car-free day to test innovative mobility solutions or hosting local events, every activity helps to promote accessible and low-emission transport.

Registration is now open, and new resources are available on the website to support participants in preparing and promoting their campaign.

How to participate

Are you a town or city? Whether you are hosting events, testing new mobility ideas, or organising a car-free day, your activities matter! Register your city, town, or local authority to showcase your commitment to accessible, low-emission transport during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK, 16–22 September 2026.

Are you a civil society organisation, business, citizens’ initiative or educational institution? Then register your MOBILITYACTION! The registration of a MOBILITYACTION is open to everyone, and it is not limited to the campaign week of 16-22 September, but it can happen at any other moment throughout the year.

Cities, towns, and municipalities can also register a MOBILITYACTION if the activity is a permanent action or if it happens outside of the campaign week of 16-22 September.

Check the guidance document here for eligibility requirements and how to register.

Some inspiration from award-winning cities

The city of Riga won the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Award 2025 for its creative approach to reclaiming public space, promoting active mobility, and encouraging community participation. The city’s campaign focused on transforming streets, encouraging active travel, and exploring new ways of using urban space.

The previous year, POLIS member Bologna won the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Award for its efforts in making sustainable mobility more accessible. The Italian city has been implementing transformative measures, such as Bologna 30, which permanently introduced 30 km/h zones on 70% of the city's roads.
