RESKILLING

RESKILLING addresses a key challenge facing Europe’s transport sector: making the shift to Connected, Cooperative, and Automated Mobility (CCAM) not only innovative, but socially inclusive and sustainable!

RESKILLING (Research initiative for Enhancing and Adapting Workforce SKILLs for Implementing TraNsport Automation with Employment Growth) takes on one of the most pressing challenges in Europe’s transport sector: ensuring that the shift to CCAM is not only cutting-edge, but also socially sustainable and inclusive.

As CCAM technologies reshape how people and goods move, they bring with them both exciting opportunities and serious challenges for the workforce. New jobs will emerge, others may disappear—and there is an urgent need to prepare for it all. RESKILLING aims to anticipate and address these changes by tackling skill gaps, supporting workforce adaptation,

To tackle this challenge, RESKILLING embraces a co-innovation framework built on inclusivity, co-creation, and social innovation. The project brings together a diverse consortium of 20 partners from 10 countries, all working collaboratively to design and test innovative business models, reskilling tools, and collaborative strategies that empower stakeholders to navigate this transformation.

Key activities include mapping the socio-economic impacts of CCAM, identifying job categories at risk, and developing tailored (re)training programmes for essential groups—such as public and private mobility operators, safety drivers, authorities, and service providers. One of the central outputs will be the CCAM Employment & Skills Observatory: a dynamic knowledge hub designed to support evidence-based policy-making and effective workforce planning.

POLIS leads the stakeholder engagement strategy, ensuring that all key players—including cities, regions, mobility operators, industry leaders, social partners, and training institutions—are actively involved in shaping the direction and outcomes of the project with a focus on co-creation and inclusivity. The project kicked off in January 2025 and is set to run for 36 months.
