Jerusalem

Jerusalem is the capital city of Israel with a population of 850,000 residents and continuing to grow. The municipality has been implementing the “Jerusalem 2020” master plan to improve transportation options for its citizens alongside the national Transport Ministry. The Red Line light rail allowed for quicker east-west access along the central downtown corridor in addition to higher quality of life via lower air pollution levels and the creation of a pedestrian-friendly urban zone along its length. Multi-modal transportation is also critical to a sustainable Jerusalem including the promotion of bus use via exclusive public transportation lanes and of bike use via completion of a network of pathways. Jerusalem is creating a low emission zone with automated camera enforcement, and is seeking partners for implementation of picture-processing technologies. The LEZ along with future light rail expansion are underway to further the gains in quality of life for residents and visitors.

Jerusalem is involved in Sunrise Consortium - Horizon 2020 MG-4.5 and European Cycling Challenge.
