Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (UIRS) is a leading Slovenian national scholarly research institution in the field of spatial, regional and urban planning and related disciplines.

UIRS has over 25 years of experience in the field of sustainable urban mobility planning and its integration with land-use planning, specialising in areas such as parking and public transport, with particular experience in developing SUMPs for small and medium-sized cities.

They have a small but highly experienced and knowledgeable team of mobility experts who span afield into Southeast Europe, the Mediterranean and Turkey.

This is conducted through the Research Programme Group which is co-financed by the state budget within the framework of the Spatial Planning Programme. The fundamental principle of work of the group is the achievement of excellent scientific research results through the performance of high quality research, both basic and applicative.

They are- or have been - partners in at least 20 previous EU funded projects on aspects of sustainable mobility; including; Crossmoby, Prosperity, and Care4Climate.

UIRS are also active at the national level in Slovenia and work closely with key departments in the Ministry of Infrastructure, addressing the national SUMP programme.
