Just Transition Webinar: 'Neutral' transport, gendered poverty
The fifth webinar of the Just Transition Webinar series on transport poverty and mobility justice, titled ''Neutral' transport, gendered poverty', will explore how some transport measures can unintentionally reproduce transport poverty for women and gender-diverse people if gendered travel patterns, care responsibilities, safety concerns, and time constraints are overlooked.
Organised by the Just Transition Taskforce in celebration of Women's History Month 2026, this webinar will take place on 24 March, 10:00 - 11:30 CEST.
Universal mobility policies are essential for a just transition, but when ‘one-size-fits-all’ approaches are designed without a gender lens, they risk serving an abstract average user and missing many real ones, along with their needs. Drawing on four complementary perspectives, the session examines how gender mainstreaming strengthens, rather than undermines, universal approaches, delivers mobility justice, and ensures that climate action leaves no one behind.

About the Just Transition Webinar Series
This webinar is part of POLIS’ Just Transition webinar series dedicated to transport poverty. The series examines how cities and regions can address mobility injustice through targeted, inclusive local action.
The series offers a timely platform to explore how local authorities and other urban mobility stakeholders can support fair and sustainable mobility. Building on POLIS’ recent policy paper on the SCF, each session tackles a key theme at the intersection of climate, equity, and mobility, showcasing strategies that drive structural change on the ground.
