Connecting communities: Key takeaways from the Just Transition Webinar
Regional strategies are key to bridging the transport divide. By coordinating services, governance, and innovation, regions can ensure mobility is accessible, equitable, and inclusive.
This is one of the key messages from the latest POLIS Just Transition x Regions WG webinar, 'Connecting communities—How regions can close the transport divide', the fourth in the renewed Just Transition Webinar Series on transport poverty and mobility justice.
Featuring Hanna Schredl (Baden-Württemberg), Chris de Veer (North Holland), Vítor Moreira (Intermunicipal Community of Douro), Jakob Britz (East Tyrol), and Cristina Pou Fonollà (Catalonia), the webinar explored how regional planning, inclusive governance, and flexible service models can strengthen mobility networks, improve urban–rural connectivity, and ensure access to transport is treated as a shared social right.
The session demonstrated how governance, human-centred design, and innovative mobility solutions can empower communities and reduce transport inequalities.
