SCALE 3rd Bidirectional Cities Event: Cities' needs and priorities for smart and bidirectional EV infrastructure
POLIS is inviting all interested stakeholders, particularly cities, regions, and local grid operators to the 3rd Bidirectional Cities Event on 20 February, 14:00-15:30 CET, organized as part of the SCALE project.
What guidance can help cities transition to smart and bidirectional EV charging? Participants are invited to share and discuss their experiences in deploying smart and bidirectional EV charging infrastructure. We will identify common challenges and priorities for European cities, and discuss the best practice example in Utrecht, where work is underway to become the first bidirectional region in the world. Join the event to learn how smart charging and e-car sharing can serve as easy entry points to deploying V2G infrastructure!
We will also gather feedback on our ongoing work to develop practical guidelines for cities on the procurement of smart and V2G infrastructure that will be included in the updated European Commission’s STF Procurement Handbook.
Agenda
- Introductory words by Gertjan Geurts, City of Utrecht
- Round of presentation of local authorities and DSOs in the meeting
- Integrating energy, climate and mobility policies in Utrecht by Matthjis Kok, City of Utrecht
- grid-conscious charging and data-based roll-out of V2G infrastructure and chargers
- e-car sharing as the ideal starting segment for V2G and smart charging, using an open market procurement model
- Q&A
- Stockholm e-mobility strategy by Annika Bergendahl, City of Stockholm, including Q&A
- From R&I to policy: updating the EC’s Sustainable Transport Forum Handbook on procurement and tenders for EV charging infrastructure to include smart and V2G specifications, including Q&A
- Wrap-up and next steps
By joining, you will gain strategic and practical support for integrating V2G into your city’s public charging infrastructure. Whether you’re from a local authority or a grid operator, this event will provide you with the tools and network you need.
We hope to see you on 20 February, 14:00-15:40 CET!
SCALE Bidirectional Cities Event series on Joint Procurement: Why should you join our events?
- Tailored Insights: Learn how to integrate V2G technology effectively with procurement guidelines, technical requirements, and real-world case studies from other cities.
- Collaboration: Exchange knowledge and experiences with peers across Europe who are also responsible for public charging infrastructure.
- Support: Access hands-on guidance and best practices to take the next steps in the procurement of smart and V2G EV charging infrastructure, from technical specifications to lessons learned.
This event series offers a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and explore the next steps your city or region can take to implement V2G solutions. Your feedback will help shape practical steps and guide the development of the programme. Let’s collaborate to make V2G a reality in your area. It will be facilitated by representatives from the City of Utrecht, a front-runner on public V2G charging infrastructure.
The SCALE project is a three-year project (2022-2025) co-funded by the new Horizon Europe Programme with a budget of around 10 million EUR. It aims to advance smart charging infrastructure and facilitate the mass deployment of electric vehicles. Feel free to reach out to Constantin Heitzer for further information.
