MOLOHUBS Webinar

Building better hubs in the city of Bergen: Using Service Stacking and Sharing to enable space-Efficient Mobility and Logistics Hubs

Street space in our cities is finite, but the demand for space keeps growing. Deliveries, shared vehicles, charging, micromobility and public life all compete for the same metres of curb. At the same time, the conditions we plan for are changing fast. How do we create space-efficient and user-friendly solutions in this situation? In this webinar, the City of Bergen will share how they explore two complementary strategies that help us go from governing place to governing the pulse:

Stacking – combining several services in one place. A key learning from the MoLo Hubs Project is the synergy of combining services like parcel lockers, cargo bikes, car sharing, and charging in a single hub. It saves space, and it increases user adoption.

Sharing – using the same space for different purposes over time. New digital standards such as CDS and MDS, combined with tools like AI-based video analysis, open up new models for dynamic regulation. A curb can serve deliveries in the morning, car sharing during the day and pick-up in the evening.

Bergen will present how they combine the stacking and sharing strategies, and its vision for creating hubs that generate better data, smarter governance, and continuous adaptation to changes in technology, business models, or user needs. The webinar will share reflections after visiting several of the MoLo Hubs pilots, and combine them with the work Bergen is doing on digital regulation of its curb space.
