STEER-NWE International Exchange Event

On 30 November-1 December 2026, in Ghent and Brussels, the STEER Academy will hold an International Exchange Event bringing practitioners together for electric carsharing.

The STEER-NWE Academy is bringing practitioners from across North-West Europe together for two days of peer exchange, practical learning and discussion on the implementation of electric carsharing.

Taking place in Ghent on 30 November and Brussels on 1 December, the STEER Academy International Exchange Event will bring together public authorities, mobility professionals, researchers, knowledge institutions, NGOs and other practitioners working on shared mobility.

Rather than providing an introduction to shared mobility, the event is designed as a practitioner-level exchange, creating space to share experiences, discuss implementation challenges and explore approaches that can be applied in different local contexts.

What to expect

Across the two-day programme, participants will explore several practical dimensions of electric carsharing, including:

  • Electrification of carsharing: Business cases, innovations and user experience
  • Data and digital tools: Insights from real-world carsharing dashboards and applications
  • Inclusion and communication: Approaches to making shared mobility more accessible and engaging
  • E-carsharing in housing developments: Lessons from integrating shared mobility into neighbourhoods
  • Lessons learned: Interactive exchange on practical experiences and challenges

The programme will combine expert contributions with opportunities for discussion and peer exchange. Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in a site visit to a V2G pilot in Ghent, while an optional afternoon visit in Brussels will explore e-carsharing and social housing.

Two days of exchange

The event will begin at the Way To Go offices in Ghent on 30 November, with sessions on electrification, data and digital tools, followed by a site visit to a V2G pilot and an informal joint dinner.

On 1 December, the programme will continue at The EGG in Brussels, focusing on inclusion and communication, e-carsharing in housing developments and an interactive lessons-learned session.

The event takes place immediately before the POLIS Conference, providing an opportunity for participants to combine the exchange with the wider European urban mobility community gathering in Brussels.

Who is the event for?

The exchange is aimed at professionals working in or around shared mobility, particularly:

  • Public authorities
  • Mobility professionals and practitioners
  • Researchers and knowledge institutions
  • NGOs and civil society organisations
  • Other stakeholders involved in the planning, implementation or operation of shared mobility

Participants are expected to have a basic familiarity with shared mobility, as the event will focus on practical exchange rather than introductory content.
