CCAMbassador

While Connected, Cooperative, and Automated Mobility (CCAM) technologies are advancing rapidly across Europe, their large-scale deployment still faces major hurdles.

To unlock the full potential of CCAM, such as safer, cleaner, and more efficient transport of people and goods, Europe must bridge the gap between research and innovation (R&I) and real-world implementation, while stimulating demand and uptake.

The CCAMbassador project (Connected, Cooperative and Automated MoBility Assessment & Stakeholder Dedicated and Operational awareness Raising) is an EU-funded action designed to do just that. Complementing the coordination and alignment efforts of the CCAM Partnership, this Coordinated Support Action (CSA) broadens stakeholder engagement and knowledge exchange beyond the R&I community.

By supporting mobility implementers, including infrastructure managers, transport operators, and local and regional authorities, CCAMbassador helps turn innovation into tangible services. It does so by identifying key building blocks for deployment, fostering cross-border collaboration, and promoting harmonised approaches to CCAM implementation across Europe.

A key focus of the project is to promote and enhance the European Common Evaluation Methodology for CCAM (EU-CEM). CCAMbassador will encourage its use, collect user feedback, and update the EU-CEM Handbook accordingly. It will also expand and strengthen the EU-wide CCAM Knowledge Base, ensuring it meets the needs of citizens, practitioners, researchers, and policymakers alike.

CCAMbassador aims to:

  • Engage and coordinate the CCAM ecosystem through targeted consultation mechanisms that foster cooperation and consensus on R&I needs for operational deployment;
  • Map and analyse national and international initiatives to identify lessons learned, cooperation opportunities, and building blocks for scaling CCAM services;
  • Raise public awareness and empower implementers, including public authorities and operators, to enable CCAM deployment;
  • Enhance and expand the CCAM Knowledge Base, improving usability and tailoring it to stakeholder needs to support informed decision-making;
  • Promote and refine the EU-CEM methodology, supporting its adoption and updating it in line with new insights and feedback.
