Stay informed and prepare for the skills transition in automated mobility with ReSKILLING

ReSKILLING launches newsletter and prepares Stakeholder Community to tackle transport automation and workforce transition.

As Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) technologies advance across Europe, they are triggering profound shifts in the transport labour market. New roles are emerging, existing ones are evolving, and new skills are in demand. For workers, businesses, public authorities, and training providers alike, keeping up with this transition is essential.

To support this, POLIS is working on ReSKILLING, an initiative that aims to help Europe’s mobility workforce and ecosystems adapt to the challenges and opportunities of CCAM. The project focuses on anticipating employment impacts, identifying skill gaps, and developing strategies to ensure that innovation in transport goes hand in hand with social inclusion and sustainable job growth.

As part of this effort, the project has launched its biannual newsletter, ReSKILLING Brief. The newsletter provides a regular window into how automation is reshaping the mobility sector and what can be done to ensure a fair, inclusive and future-oriented transformation of the workforce.

Each issue shares key findings from project research, developments in training tools and employment analysis, updates from case studies, and news from across the ReSKILLING consortium and its collaborators. It also keeps readers informed about upcoming events, project milestones, and opportunities to engage.

The first issue of ReSKILLING Brief is now available on LinkedIn. Subscribe to stay up to date on how Europe is preparing its workforce for the next chapter in transport innovation.

Get ready to take part in the Stakeholder Community

In addition to keeping stakeholders informed, ReSKILLING is also building a space for active participation. The project will soon launch its Stakeholder Community, a platform dedicated to engaging professionals and organisations from across sectors affected by CCAM.

The community will bring together public authorities, transport operators, industry actors, education and training institutions, social partners, civil society organisations and others. Participants will be invited to contribute through interviews, surveys, workshops and collaborative events organised around key project themes.

These include:

  • Understanding the employment and socioeconomic impacts of CCAM;
  • Co-designing skill development tools and training pathways;
  • Testing and validating new solutions to support workforce adaptation in real-world environments.

The Stakeholder Community will be hosted on an interactive online platform and will be rolled out alongside a series of thematic engagement opportunities in 2025 and beyond. This activity is coordinated by POLIS, the network of cities and regions working on sustainable and innovative transport solutions, which leads the project’s stakeholder engagement efforts.

Organisations and individuals interested in joining the Stakeholder Community will receive all the information through the ReSKILLING and POLIS channels, or can reach out to the POLIS Staff involved

Stay connected—and get ready to take part in shaping a more inclusive and future-ready transport labour ecosystem.
