Diversity is high on the EU agenda for 2025!

The European Commission is committed to actively promoting inclusion in our societies. As part of these efforts, there are many initiatives on the agenda for 2025, such as the European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Award—keep reading to find out more about it!

Having set equality at the top of the agenda, the European Commission has adopted a proactive approach to foster such values, through targeted action plans and measures.

As part of this commitment, the Commission is undertaking a series of initiatives that you should keep on your radar in 2025.

The Award

Next year will mark the fourth edition of the European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Award.

The Award celebrates and showcases towns, cities, and regions implementing exemplary practices to foster inclusion. By recognising these initiatives, the award highlights efforts that can serve as inspiration for creating fairer environments across Europe, emphasising best practices that actively promote inclusiveness among citizens.

Some of our bold members have been featured in previous editions as finalists. Will this be your year?

Find more information, register for a dedicated webinar, and apply before 7 February 2025 here.

EU Diversity Month

Celebrated in May, EU Diversity Month highlights the importance of diversity and inclusion in workplaces and society, fostering representation, visibility, and the value of diverse perspectives.

This initiative will put the spotlight on organisational efforts to create equal and inclusive environments, in alignment with the European Commission's dedication to combating discrimination. For 2025, the theme will centre on promoting mental health and well-being in the workplace.

Details about upcoming activities and initiatives for EU Diversity Month 2025 will be shared soon here.

EU Diversity Charters

The European Diversity Charters are initiatives supporting public and private organisations in the EU to create and apply effective diversity and inclusion policies.

By signing a charter, organisations publicly commit to fostering inclusive workplaces. Operating at the national level, each country has its charter, collectively encompassing over 17,000 signatories, including businesses, NGOs, and trade unions. Together, they represent more than 17 million employees, promoting workplace diversity and inclusion across Europe.

Find more information about the Charters here.

Mark your calendar for the Award Ceremony of the European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity taking place on 29 April 2025. The event will also serve as the kickoff for the EU Diversity Month.

More information on the event will be published here.
