Baden-Württemberg-POLIS Policy Event: Sustainable mobility in cities and regions for a competitive Europe

On 23 April 2026, the Ministry of Transport of Baden-Württemberg and POLIS will host a high-level policy discussion on the role of cities and regions in delivering sustainable mobility for a more competitive Europe in Brussels, Belgium.

As EU priorities increasingly focus on competitiveness and industrial policy, this event, jointly hosted by POLIS and the Ministry of Transport of Baden-Württemberg, will explore how cities and regions can drive sustainable mobility while strengthening Europe’s economic resilience. From public procurement and innovation ecosystems to transport infrastructure and clean mobility markets, local and regional authorities are key actors shaping Europe’s competitiveness agenda.

Two focused panel discussions will explore:

  • The role of cities and regions as principal clients in Europe’s mobility market, in the context of the ongoing revision of the Public Procurement Directives.
  • How local and regional authorities contribute to accessible economic areas, transport innovation, and key EU investment frameworks such as the Connecting Europe Facility and the future European Competitiveness Fund.

We are honoured that Winfried Hermann MP, Minister of Transport of Baden-Württemberg, will share his reflections after many years of being in office.

The event will take place at the Representation of the State of Baden-Württemberg to the European Union in Belliardstraat 60/62, 1040 Etterbeek, Brussels, and will be held in English. The event will conclude with a light networking lunch.
