The European Road Safety Charter is calling for Good Practice submissions
The European Road Safety Charter, led by the European Commission, is the largest civil society platform on road safety. To date, more than 4,000 public and private entities have committed to the Charter and carried out road safety actions and initiatives targeted at their members, employees and the rest of civil society.
Together, these various entities form a community in which members can share their expertise and actions, inspiring and learning from each other. Based on these principles of sharing and learning, the European Road Safety Charter has now opened for submissions its ‘Good practices’ website section.
What is a ‘good practice’?
A good practice can be any set of actions (strategies, measures, methods, approaches etc.) that have been successfully addressing a road safety problem. If you have undertaken an ongoing project falling under this description, you can share it by submitting your good practice at http://erscharter.eu/road-safety-in-action/good-practice_en by May 15 2019.
By submitting your good practice, you will be eligible to win an Excellence in Road Safety Award. The Award acknowledges inspirational and innovative initiatives that contribute to improving road safety and saving lives. In order to submit your good practice, you first have to sign a commitment by becoming a member of the ERSC community.
Education in Road Safety: the ERSCharter’s School Challenge 2019
This year, a special 'school challenge' with two subcategories (infants and children, and pre-teens and adolescents) has been set. This challenge reminds us that schools can play a key role when it comes to develop sustainable, creative and replicable practices towards road safety within schools or through the interaction with local communities or other partners, such as enterprises, associations, the police etc.
In this challenge, all road safety activities (traditional or innovative) are welcome: campaigns, plays, presentations and so on and so fort. There is really no limit to creativity, as long as the activity stands for values like participation and sustainability. The activity can be also new or already ongoing for several years.
