Take SPACE4Cities' survey on satellite data for urban challenges!

The SPACE4Cities project invites European cities and regions' representatives to fill in short surveys exploring how satellite data can support innovative solutions to urban challenges. The aim? To gain a clearer understanding of the needs and priorities of local and regional authorities. Have your say by 27 August 2025!

SPACE4Cities is a Horizon Europe-funded project that aims to develop replicable solutions that use European satellite data for smarter and more dynamic management of public spaces, green areas, transport infrastructure, city maintenance, and urban resilience. Through a pre-commercial procurement method, public sector procurers can buy R&D services from several contractors (suppliers) in parallel, guiding the development of innovative solutions not yet available on the market and testing them against real needs. POLIS members Forum Virium Helsinki, Amsterdam, and Ghent are project's partners.

In Phase 1, the Solution Design, 20 selected suppliers are currently developing solution architectures and specifications based on SPACE4Cities' requirements. Their work addresses a range of key urban challenges, such as flood control, water management, wildfire prevention, infrastructure and CO2 monitoring, building emission control, and promotion of active mobility.

As part of this process, suppliers are conducting feasibility studies to ensure that their innovative solutions meet the practical needs of urban stakeholders. By answering the surveys, cities and regions will help shape innovative space-based solutions that can directly support their future resilience and sustainability.

Take part in the surveys!

Each survey takes only 3–5 minutes to complete, and participants are encouraged to respond to as many as are relevant to their area of expertise.

The deadline for filling in the surveys is 27 August 2025.
