This prestigious competition celebrates groundbreaking initiatives that make cities more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient. The theme for this cycle, 'Catalysing Healthy Cities,' addresses the challenges of rapid urbanisation and increasing pressure on infrastructure, food systems, and urban services. WRI is seeking innovative projects that enhance urban liveability, strengthen nature, and improve well-being for both people and the planet.
The Prize welcomes applications from across sectors, including mobility, air quality, housing, public health, and zero-carbon buildings. Eligible applicants include businesses, NGOs, community organisations, local governments, and individuals.
Previous winners and finalists have delivered transformative change, tackling some of the world's most pressing urban challenges. From advancing food security and economic resilience in Rosario, Argentina, to revitalising public spaces in Barranquilla, Colombia, and pioneering safer school commutes in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, these initiatives have inspired cities worldwide.
Applications are open until 28 May 2025 at 23:59 ET. For full details and to apply, visit PrizeforCities.org.
