The Province of Gelderland is situated in the eastern part of the Netherlands, in between the Randstad Holland with its mainports and the Rhine Ruhr Area in Germany. As part of two European core network corridors (Rhine Alpine and Northsea - Baltic) the region has to deal with large volumes of freight and passenger transport. Gelderland is known for it's nature and waterways and has many cross border cooperation with NorthRhine Westphalia, especially in logistics and passenger transport, as well as road maintenance. The region's interest focuses generally on intelligent transport systems, bicycle plans, sustainable mobility and smart logistics. Key words are sustainability, corridor development and slow traffic. The region is involved in working groups around those topics.
The Province of Gelderland is involved in CODE24, CLINSH (website to come) and Velo-city.
