Seminar: European coalition of transport providers for the deployment of automated road mobility

On 27 June 2025, local and public transport authorities from all over Europe will meet in Paris to build a European coalition of transport providers for the deployment of automated road mobility.

Organised by the French government, supported by its industry gathered into France Véhicules Autonomes (FVA), and Ruter, the Norwegian public transport authority for Oslo and Akershus, with the support of POLIS, EMTA, EIT Urban Mobility, Eurocities, UITP, PAVE Europe, ERTICO, and the CCAM partnership, this event marks the first step toward a shared European scaling plan for automated transport.

Automated road mobility holds the potential to enhance the performance and reach of transport systems while contributing to more efficient and environmentally responsible urban mobility planning.  This one-day event represents a significant first step toward establishing a coordinated and strategic approach to the large-scale rollout of automated transport services, systems, and vehicles in Europe, with the overarching aim of ensuring that public authorities and urban areas retain a central and proactive role in shaping the future of mobility.

This seminar is designed to bring together key stakeholders across the entire value chain—including service providers, local authorities, public transport authorities, transport operators, vehicle manufacturers, ADS designers, independent assessors and technical services—to engage in collaborative dialogue, share experiences, and identify common strategies for the successful deployment and scaling of automated transport services.

What to expect

The seminar will have four building blocks:

  • Policy frameworks, exploring the challenges that local and public transport authorities face in integrating automated transport services into their existing networks
  • Large-scale deployment, particularly from public transport operators and technology providers
  • Business case, focusing on long-term economic sustainability
  • Way forward: Method and action for a scaling plan

In addition to the main seminar, the day before, 26 May, some side events will be organised:

  • Testing of Roland Garros shuttles in Paris (starting at 10:30 am) by Renault and Weride
  • Testing of Urbanloop vehicles in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (afternoon) by Keolis
