CARIN-PT Final Conference 'Towards Inclusive Public Transport in Urban Regions'

Join the final conference of the CARIN-PT project in Brussels on 6-7 February 2025 to explore the connections between public transport infrastructure and social justice. This 2-day event will bring together project partners, researchers, professionals and representatives of civil society organisations to exchange ideas on the path 'Towards Inclusive Public Transport in Urban Regions'.

The CARIN-PT project seeks to shed light on the underexplored social justice dimension of public transport (PT) to better understand the close relationship that exists between socio-economic dynamics, accessibility and PT ridership.

Started in the spring of 2022, the project is drawing close to its conclusion. Join the final conference on 6-7 February in Brussels to learn about the project's main findings and engage in the debates they will spark!

What is on the agenda

Participants will be presented with key insights from the CARIN-PT Living Labs (in Tallinn, Oslo, Stockholm, and Flanders), providing an empirical understanding of the mechanisms by which the costs and benefits of  PT networks are and will be distributed, also looking at the social and geographical axes of such distribution.

The conference will also feature paper presentations, panel debates, and interactive workshops addressing a wide range of thought-provoking topics, such as:

  • new approaches to conceptualising and analysing accessibility;
  • critical perspectives on participatory planning;
  • the socio-spatial effects of PT policies;
  • the integration of shared and micromobility services with PT;
  • gender, ethics, and equity in/and PT;
  • everyday mobilities of marginalised groups;
  • affordability and fairness of fare-free PT;
  • PT as a public space;
  • and much more!

A more detailed program for both days will be published here.
