Just Transition x Smart Mobility & Traffic Systems Webinar: Bridging the digital divide

The sixth webinar of the new Just Transition Webinar series on transport poverty and mobility justice, titled 'Bridging the digital divide: Ensuring inclusive mobility services for all', will explore how cities and regions can bridge the digital divide by designing mobility services that are accessible, user-friendly, and inclusive for everyone.

Organised by the Smart Mobility & Traffic Systems Working Group with the support of the Just Transition Taskforce, this webinar will take place on 20 October 2026, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM CET.

Digital tools, from journey planning apps and contactless ticketing to Mobility-as-a-Service platforms, are transforming how people access and use transport. However, not everyone has the digital skills, devices, connectivity, or confidence to benefit from these services, and without inclusive design, digitalisation can reinforce existing transport inequalities and create new barriers for those already at risk of exclusion.

This webinar explores how cities and regions can bridge the digital divide by designing mobility services that are accessible, user-friendly, and inclusive for everyone. Through practical examples and expert insights, participants will examine strategies to ensure that digital innovation supports equitable access to transport while complementing non-digital alternatives.

This webinar is part of POLIS’ Just Transition webinar series dedicated to transport poverty. The series examines how cities and regions can address mobility injustice through targeted, inclusive local action.

The series offers a timely platform to explore how local authorities and other urban mobility stakeholders can support fair and sustainable mobility. Building on POLIS’ recent policy paper on the SCF, each session tackles a key theme at the intersection of climate, equity, and mobility, showcasing strategies that drive structural change on the ground.
