Register now for the European Week of Regions and Cities 2026!
Registrations are now open for partner sessions of the 24th European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC), taking place in Brussels from 12 to 14 October 2026 under the motto 'Strong regions, strong Europe.'
Organised by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) and the European Committee of the Regions, the event remains Europe's largest annual gathering dedicated to regional and urban development and EU Cohesion Policy.
Each year, the EWRC brings together thousands of representatives from local and regional governments, EU institutions, academia, civil society, businesses, and practitioners to exchange ideas, showcase innovative projects, and discuss solutions to the challenges facing Europe's territories. The 2026 edition will focus on how place-based approaches and Cohesion Policy can help regions address demographic, economic, and geopolitical challenges while strengthening Europe's resilience and competitiveness.
Participants can look forward to a rich programme of high-level debates, partner sessions, workshops, EURegionsTalks, and networking opportunities across Brussels.

POLIS and member sessions
POLIS member Intermunicipal Community of Douro, together with POLIS and Magellan Circle, is organising an EURegionsTalk session on 'Reinventing Mobility in the Douro'.
In the Douro, reinventing mobility means creating better connections across a territory shaped by distance, terrain and dispersed communities. This talk shows how this UNESCO World Heritage Site is rethinking mobility through on-demand transport and stronger cooperation between municipalities, creating more flexible ways to connect people to healthcare, education, jobs and public services. Facing challenges shared by many rural regions across Europe, the Douro offers an inspiring example in the European debate on how regions can play a stronger role in developing mobility solutions that are better adapted, smarter and fairer, leading to competitiveness and greater territorial cohesion.
