Access the latest capacity building resources of the SURF project

The online resources of the SURF Project's e-course are now available, providing cities and regions with the tools they need to effectively develop a ZEZ-F.

The SURF Project (Sustainable URban Freight) is a collaboration with Environmental Defense Fund Europe that has guided city planners, business leaders and other freight decision-makers to develop a vision and strategy pathway for sustainable freight.

As part of this, the SURF project has developed a series of learning and peer-to-peer activities that are aimed to equip local and national policymakers, practitioners, entrepreneurs, and operators with the skills and knowledge required to develop, implement and operate ZEZ-F

Building upon the How-to Guide on Zero-Emission Zones for Freight, a joint effort of POLIS, Transport Decarbonisation Alliance (TDA) and C40 Cities, the project has developed and structured knowledge and awareness, but also built practice and partnerships to launch innovative solutions and measures for the decarbonisation of the freight sector.

E-course on Zero-Emission Zones for freight

Though the project has already ended, its e-course is still available.

The SURF e-course aimes to raise skills and knowledge related to the development, implementation, and operation of Zero-Emission Zones for Freight (ZEZ-Fs), thus supporting the transition to zero-emission deliveries.

Across a series of online modules, the course provides a solid knowledge basis for any stakeholder involved in urban freight operations.

The resources from this course are now available in the POLIS members area HERE.
