New survey on Diversity in the Cycling Industry: participate now!

The Cycling Industries Europe (CIE)’s Women In Cycling Expert Group has launched a survey on diversity in the cycling industry.

The aim is to gather insights that will help build a more inclusive, equitable, and competitive industry. Anyone who works in the industry is invited to fill in the survey by 31 July 2025.

The survey by CIE seeks to address the gender data gap and shed light on the current state of equal representation and opportunities in the sector. By collecting detailed data, CIE aims to better understand where women are employed within the industry, the roles they occupy, and the application and retention rates of both women and men.

In particular, the survey will explore how companies are attracting female talent, the barriers women face in career progression, and what strategies or initiatives are in place to promote gender inclusion.

By contributing to this call for evidence, participants will support the development of a data-driven approach to inclusion. The information gathered will help CIE quantify the underrepresentation of women and provide a clearer picture of diversity, leadership, and workplace practices across the industry.

'Our goal is to support companies in becoming more inclusive, because we believe that a diverse workforce is not only essential for equity – it’s also a powerful driver for innovation and good for business,' said Lauha Fried, Policy Director at Cycling Industries Europe, in an interview with Zag Daily.

Participation drives change

The Women in Cycling Expert Group works closely with member organisations to set diversity targets and define key performance indicators. The results of this survey will directly inform these benchmarks and guide further actions.

The survey collects company-level data on:

  • Workforce composition across gender and leadership levels
  • Trends in recruitment, retention, and career development
  • Existing initiatives for gender diversity and inclusion
  • Challenges, opportunities, and best practices in fostering inclusive workplaces

Far from being a mere academic exercise, this survey aims to drive meaningful change. The insights will contribute to sector-wide efforts to build a more inclusive, equitable, and competitive cycling industry.

Take part in the survey

The survey remains open until 31 July 2025 and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. All responses are confidential and will be reported only in an aggregated form.

This is a vital first step towards greater inclusion and equity in the cycling industry, and your input can help shape a better future for all!
