SMARTFREIGHT

The SMARTFREIGHT project researched and demonstrated the integration of urban traffic management systems and freight and logistics systems by building on existing cooperative technologies, with the goal of increasing the efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of urban freight delivery.

SMARTFREIGHT aimed to address these challenges by using knowledge, generic concepts and technology to create the SMARTFREIGHT solution that allow the urban traffic management and freight operators to exchange information and to identify and communicate with the individual freight vehicles.

The project was funded by the European Commission's Directorate General for Mobility and Transport thought the FP7 Programme. It ran from January 2008 to April 2011.
