TRA VISIONS 2024 Special Honorary Award: Open Call for Nominations!

The nomination process for the TRA VISIONS 2024 Special Honorary Award is now open. This award recognises a distinguished individual in the transport sector who, over the years, has made a remarkable and widely acknowledged contribution to research and innovation in their specific field of transport.

The TRA VISIONS Special Honorary Award recognises a respected figure in the transport sector who has made a noteworthy and widely acknowledged contribution to research and innovation in their specific transport field (road, rail, waterborne, air, cross-modal) over the years. It aims to represent the older generation of established researchers who are either concluding or have recently completed their careers. In its inaugural year in 2022, the TRA VISIONS Special Honorary Award was presented to Rune Elvik, Senior Research Officer at the Norwegian Centre for Transport Research (TØI).

The call for nominations for the 2024 edition of the Special Honorary Award is now open to the transport research community. Nominations can be submitted by individuals, groups, or technology platforms, excluding self-nominations.

Each nomination must include a justification of up to two pages, highlighting the nominee's overall impact, visionary thinking, breakthrough achievements, and track record, including but not limited to EU funding policy impact, publications, patents, and research leadership.

Candidates from all transport modes will be considered, but only one final winner will be selected (regardless of the transport mode). The winner of this Special Honorary Award is expected to have demonstrated a groundbreaking vision and will be announced at TRA 2024 in Dublin.

Nominations are welcome until 16 February 2024. To submit your nomination, complete the dedicated application form and send it to Karen Vancluysen (kvancluysen@polisnetwork.eu) and Ivo Cré (icre@polisnetwork.eu).
