Speakers and site visits announced for the 2019 SUMP Conference in Groningen

Conference speakers

The conference plenary sessions will include key note addresses by José Viegas, former Secretary General at the International Transport Forum and Henk Snapper, Member of the Board of Directors at University Medical Center in Groningen. Furthermore, high-level European Commission representatives will moderate and intervene in plenaries and breakout sessions.

Site visits

The full list of site visits has also been announced. Conference delegates will have the chance to experience first-hand Groningen’s cycling infrastructure, visit a hydrogen refueling station, try an autonomous bus and learn more about the city’s transit-oriented development.

Please notice that you can only register for one site visit for a specific time slot to give the opportunity of attendance to as many participants as possible.

Review of SUMP Guidelines

The conference will be an opportunity for representative from local authorities, mobility practitioners and experts to reflect on the status of sustainable urban mobility planning and discuss the updated SUMP Guidelines.

At various sessions with different formats, participants will provide their comments and feedback on the draft updated guidelines and give their views on long-term planning for sustainable urban mobility.

 

About the SUMP Conference

The 6th Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, Planning for sustainable and active cities, is co-funded by the European Commission and will take place in Groningen on 17-18 June 2019. Polis is co-organising the conference through its involvement in Eltis.
