Súdwest-Fryslân
Súdwest-Fryslân is the largest municipality in square meters in the Netherlands. With more than 90,000 inhabitants, the municipality is divided into 89 villages, towns, and cities, including six out of the eleven Friesland cities, and is unique for its green landscape and beautiful water.
When it comes to sustainable mobility, Súdwest-Fryslân holds multiple old city centres, which they are aiming to make car-free. They are also looking into improving their cycling infrastructure and public transport offers in rural areas, so as to further stimulate emission-free travel. Additionally, sustainable tourism is a relevant topic as the municipality's towns, cities, and beaches get significantly crowded during the summer period.
