POLIS is hiring a Communications Intern

We are looking for a new Communications Intern to join our Brussels-based Secretariat.

The Intern will help to enhance the visibility of POLIS and its members from across Europe. They will support the team with communication activities, including managing social media profiles, further developing the POLIS website and Members’ area, and drafting articles for POLIS newsletters, digital and print publications, media alerts, and communication strategies around POLIS events and projects.

POLIS is the leading European network of cities and regions on urban transport innovation. Since 1989, European local and regional authorities have been working together within POLIS to promote sustainable mobility through the deployment of innovative transport solutions.

Our aim is to improve local transport through integrated strategies that address the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of transport. To this end, we support the exchange of experiences and the transfer of knowledge between our members and facilitate the dialogue with mobility stakeholders from the private sector.

Fostering these partnerships makes research and innovation in transport more accessible and scalable. We also act as the voice of our members towards the European institutions to help shape EU mobility policy.

The successful candidate should have:

  • a degree (studies completed), preferably in the field of communications/journalism or related to transport, urban planning, or similar;
  • first hands-on experience with communications, journalism, or public relations, including, to some degree: online content development (the ability to draft news and events for websites and social media posts for social media platforms); website content management, with a good understanding of WordPress as a plus; social media management, with experience on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram as a plus; visual content development, having an eye for graphic design and knowledge of Canva as additional assets;
  • an interest in urban mobility;
  • an excellent command of written and spoken English; knowledge of additional European languages will be an asset.
