Traffic Efficiency Working Group webinar: Digitising Traffic Circulation Plans
On 18 March 2025, the Traffic Efficiency Working Group webinar will present POLIS, CROW, and local road authorities' position paper advocating for the digitisation of Traffic Circulation Plans (TCPs), highlighting the role of digital TCPs in improving communication between road authorities and service providers.
The European Commission regulates data provision for real-time traffic services under the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Directive and the Real-Time Traffic Information (RTTI) Delegated Act. The RTTI regulation requires that existing Traffic Circulation Plans (TCPs) in machine-readable format be made digitally accessible via National Access Points (NAPs), established by each Member State. By 2028, the ITS Directive will also require all newly developed TCPs to be digital and machine-readable, with future deadlines for digitising older TCPs to ensure consistency across the EU.
In October 2024, POLIS, CROW, and local road authorities across Europe published a position paper advocating for the digitisation of TCPs. On 18 March 2025, from 16:00 - 17:00 CET, our Traffic Efficiency Working Group will hold a webinar presenting the paper’s key findings and highlighting the role of digital TCPs in improving communication between road authorities and service providers. Digital TCPs help optimise traffic flows, reduce urban disruptions, and support sustainable travel choices. Additionally, the webinar will provide insights into the recent revision of the ITS Directive.
