Smart City Expo World Congress 2019
The Smart City Expo World Congress, of which Polis is a proud partner, is the international summit on cities and smart urban solutions taking place every year in Barcelona, Spain. This year's edition will have the theme Cities made of Dreams.
The event provides an opportunity for governments, companies, entrepreneurs, research centers, and institutions to connect and share their vision of how to drive urban transformation to a better future. Both the congress and exhibition area allow participants to draw inspiration from world-class experts and learn about the latest projects and solutions that are already making positive impacts on people’s lives.
The congress programme is structured in 5 themes, Digital Transformation, Urban Environment, Mobility, Governance & Finance, and Inclusive & Sharing Cities. Among the key topics covered are Data-driven Cities, 5G and the future of Connectivity, Resilient Cities, Gentrification, Innovative Transport Systems, Multilevel Governance, Sharing and Collaborative Economy, Circular Economy and Cities for All.
High-level speakers at the conference will include:
- Janette Sadik-Khan, one of the world's foremost authorities on transportation and urban transformation. As New York City transportation commissioner from 2007 to 2013, she oversaw historic changes to city streets. She now works with mayors around the world to reimagine and redesign their cities as a principal with Bloomberg Associates.
- Shira Rubinoff, a recognized cybersecurity executive and influencer, who has built two cybersecurity product companies, and led multiple women-in-technology efforts. She currently serves as President of social-media-security firm, SecureMySocial, as well as on the Boards of both the Executive Women's Forum for Information Security and Leading Women in Technology.
- Laura Tenenbaum, an award-winning science communicator. She was the Senior Science Editor of NASA's Global Climate Change website where she reported on sea level rise, ice mass loss and regional climate impacts. She also taught oceanography and created an oceanography video series to accompany Pearson's Essentials of Oceanography textbook.
