KU Leuven Evening Seminar: Road pricing, does it make any sense?
Road pricing systems involve engineering, policy, and technology. The alumni of the Master of Mobility and Supply Chain Engineering and the KU Leuven Institute for Mobility (LIM) are organising a seminar on the challenges and benefits of road pricing on traffic management and sustainable mobility.
Effective pricing policies can improve the quality of life in cities by reducing traffic, climate emissions and local air pollutants while encouraging public and active transport use. The alumni of the Master of Mobility and Supply Chain Engineering and the KU Leuven Institute for Mobility (LIM) are hosting the evening seminar to explore how pricing strategies can reduce congestion, manage traffic flows, and promote sustainable mobility.
The seminar is on Thursday, 24 April 2025, from 18:15 to 22:00.
The presentations will introduce the concept of road pricing instruments and discuss practical examples, such as impact studies for Flanders, explaining the scientific and experimental experience with alternative pricing instruments. The session will conclude with reactions from mobility organisations, followed by an open discussion.
The speakers include:
- Dr. Erik Verhoef, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam
- Griet De Ceuster, Transport & Mobility Leuven
- Joost Kaesemans, Touring
