With ensuring that these people can safely get where they need to be being paramount to tackling the spread of the virus, many cities are launching initiatives to make it easier for health workers to get around. In Munich, doctors and nurses can now use taxis free of charge for their way to work, as has been reported in Spiegel.
Health workers can take free journeys within Munich upon proving employment in healthcare. The offer is also only valid by ordering a taxi in advance.
Spiegel reports that participating taxi companies will initially bear the costs. The Munich Taxi Association is still awaiting a response from the Federal Ministry of Transport about a long-term solution.
