Brussels to extend bike parking network by 2030

Brussels has announced plans to create new bicycle parking spaces throughout the city by 2030.

The Brussels Capital Region has announced plans to invest in a more secure and extensive network of bicycle parking spaces. Located in the proximity of multimodal transport hubs such as train, bus, metro stations, off roads and neighbour door car parks thanks to the cooperation with Parking.bruxelles. These bicycle shelters would constitute an attractive and accessible way to increase bike journeys in the city.

This initiative is part of Good Move, the Brussels regional mobility plan that aims to make 10% of total journeys related to Brussels by bicycle by 2030, which won the European Award for Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans in 2020.

The Good Move plan sets out the main mobility policy guidelines, engaging both public and private stakeholders in returning Brussels public space to its residents and opted for a liveable, traffic-safe city, by focusing on car-free neighbourhoods, great public transport and smoother traffic circulation.

The design and implementation of the Good Move plan will contribute to the transition towards more sustainable transport alternatives as well as creating awareness regarding CO2 emissions, improving air quality and creating a more pleasant urban living environment for all.
