Velo-City 2022

Velo-city, the world cycling summit, is an annual conference organised by the European Cyclist Federation (ECF), and this year will be held in Ljubljana with POLIS and our members playing a central role.

Date: 14-17 June

Location: Ljubljana, Slovenia

As the annual flagship event of the European Cyclists’ Federation, Velo-city plays a valuable part in promoting cycling as a sustainable and healthy means of transport for all. The conference offers a knowledge-exchange and policy-transfer platform to the growing number of more than 1400 Velo-citizens from over 60 countries involved in the policy, promotion and provision for cycling, active mobility and sustainable urban development.

On Tuesday 14 June at 16:00 CET, POLIS Secretary General, Karen Vancluysen will be moderating Plenary 2 'Policies for more cycling - from national strategies to traffic-reducing measures'. She will also intervene as a panelist on Thursday 16 June at 16:00 CET in Plenary 6 'Urban Mobility Innovation'. Plenary 2 will feature two POLIS members: Ghent (BE) and Bologna (IT). The ReVeAL project will be represented in the session 'Placemaking: Connecting people and places' on Friday 17 June at 10:15 CET.

This year's theme is 'Cycling the Change', exploring the ways COVID-19 has changed our active travel landscape, and looking towards a more permanent role for the centrality of cycling within our mobility mix.
