UEMI workshop: Safe and low-carbon urban mobility in action
The Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI) supports cities in the implementation of low-carbon mobility measures. A sustainable urban transport system includes to improve the safety of transport users, including and especially of those using low-carbon modes. Road traffic accidents are now the leading cause of death of people aged 5-29 years. The burden is disproportionately borne by pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, in particular those living in developing countries.
This workshop aims to provide a space in which European and Latin American cities can exchange experience on how to integrate road safety measures in low-carbon mobility planning. Thus, the workshop that will take place as a side event of the 5th Meeting of the Safer City Streets Network, and will focus on the following topics:
- Synergies and co-benefits between low-carbon and safety measures
- Project planning with a focus on linkages between safety and sustainability
- Safety aspects of sustainable e-mobility solutions
Polis members Budapest, Madrid, Lisbon and London are among the speakers of the event.
The workshop is organised by UEMI in cooperation with Polis and supported by FUTURE-RADAR and UN Habitat.
