SPACE4Cities Webinar: Demystifying space technologies for cities – Urban mobility management

Want to know how space technologies and satellite data can contribute to sustainable urban mobility? Then make sure to join the upcoming SPACE4Cities Webinar on innovative urban mobility management!

On 23 May 2024, the SPACE4Cities Project will host the third in a series of four webinars dedicated to a fascinating new topic: the applications of space technologies and satellite data for urban management.

During the upcoming webinar, titled "Demystifying space technologies for cities – Urban mobility management,” attendees will learn how space technologies and data can be applied in cities to solve key urban mobility challenges. The session will be grounded in case studies showing how satellite data, artificial intelligence, and other technological advances have helped cities improve their transport infrastructure and services, from the introduction of low-emission zones (LEZs) to the improvement of cycling infrastructure.

Why attend?

Faced with the challenges of climate change adaptation and mitigation, cities are pressured to make a quick transition to sustainable mobility. This will require behavioural changes from citizens (eg a shift away from private vehicles) as well as support from cities (eg investments in safe, accessible infrastructure for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport users).

But cities are not alone – recent advances in space technologies are making it easier for urban centers to access and apply the data they need to make the switch.

By participating in this SPACE4Cities sessions, attendees will gain a better understanding of the myriad ways in which space technologies can transform urban mobility management. Drawing insights from cities that have already wtinessed the benefits of these technologies firsthand, the leaders of the session will combine theory and practice for an inspiring learning experience.
