Navigo Easy changes ticketing services in Île-de-France

Sold at a price of 2€, the Navigo Easy card is rechargeable at all Île-de-France’s stations’ ticket machines and counters. In addition, it allows the loading of several transport tickets on a single card (single ticket t+, full- or reduced-price multiple tickets, Navigo day package, OrlyBus and RoissyBus tickets).

Non-nominative, Navigo Easy can be loaned or given to any other person: however, during a trip, each traveler must validate his/her own card. Navigo Easy helps the environment by being reusable (it does not demagnetize) and by avoiding the massive use of cardboard tickets, which take at least one year to decompose.

A contactless ticketing system?

For now, though, the Navigo Easy card will not replace all cardboard tickets. Thus, one-way and return tickets to Île-de-France and Paris Visite will continue to exist in magnetic format until the goal of a 100% contactless ticketing system will be reached.

Navigo Easy is indeed part of the ambitious modernization program for transport tickets that has been promoted by Île-de-France Mobilités and conducted with the participation of the RATP and SNCF and companies within Optile and GIE Comutitres since 2015.

This program consists in imagining more flexible and modern ticketing services that can adapt to new consumer trends (online shopping, use of smartphones) and brand-new ticketing machines within Île-de-France’s stations.

Next steps

Starting with the launch of Navigo Easy, Navigo Sénior (half-fare) and Navigo Liberté + (pay-per-use), as well as the possibility of purchasing and validating tickets directly on smartphones by September 2019, this modernization program wishes to meet the budget and needs of all citizens with a complete range of modern and effective ticketing offers.
