That's right: the Coalition of the Willing on Sustainable Mobility is organising its 5th addition to their ongoing webinar series on policy options to reduce emissions from transport. The topic? 'Joint planning through SUMPs and SECAPs towards zero-emission mobility in cities'.
Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning is a systematic and comprehensive approach to achieving the shift toward sustainable mobility, in order to enhance accessibility and quality of life: and Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) are the key to making this happen. Cities have been working both on their SUMPs and their Sustainable Climate and Energy Action Plans (SECAPs) for many years, yet internal coordination processes have brought forth several challenges.
The aim of this webinar is to explore the potential of the SUMP approach to planning to deliver effective decarbonisation strategies at the local level, and some guidance to overcome existing challenges, through the new ELTIS topic guide on the Decarbonisation of Urban Mobility It will then explore examples of cities that have been coordinating their mobility and climate plans to maximise the co-benefits of joint planning while addressing trade-offs, including POLIS members Bologna and Budapest.
