Madrid offers financial support for citizens to buy bikes

Madrid has recently announced a financial package to support citizens to buy non-polluting vehicles.

The measure aims to encourage the purchase of electric vehicles and promote zero-emission mobility. The municipality will cover approximately 50% of the final price of scooters, bicycles, mopeds or electric motorcycles.

The measure is designed to ease pressure on public transport post-lockdown and avoid a shift to increased car use. 2.5 million euros in 2020 and 3 million in 2021 will be allocated for this fund.

A cap on financial assistance will be set at €150 (scooters), €500 (bicycles), €600 (mopeds) and €750 (electric motorcycles).
