COVID-19: Keeping Things Moving

Germany agrees recovery package with focus on e-mobility

Germany has this week agreed an economic stimulus package to speed up the country's recovery from COVID-19.

The package includes support for the the electric vehicle sector, including a subsidy of €6,000 for the purchase of electric vehicles. Plans to also include support for the purchase of petrol and diesel cars were not implemented as part of the package after environmental concerns were raised.

The subsidy for electric cars, which is double the previous amount available, is hoped to give consumers an incentive to switch to cleaner vehicles.
