Registration for the 2018 Covenant of Mayors Ceremony is open!

From 2008, over 9,200 local authorities have been taking action to reach their Covenant of Mayors targets and contribute to the EU climate and energy objectives.

By 2020, those cities will in average have reduced their CO2 emissions by 27%, decreased energy use by 20%, and increased local energy production by 90%*.

All over Europe, mayors have been taking bold measures to offer their citizens a healthy environment, green jobs, and a high quality of life. Each new commitment, new action plan and new measure implemented at local level is a step forward and an opportunity for bringing better quality of life and green growth in your municipalities. The European Commission accompanies your efforts through a series of initiatives and actions: a one-stop-shop for cities on financing opportunities, new accounting rules on energy efficiency investments, the smart financing for smart buildings initiative, the Covenant of Mayors Office.

2018 will mark the 10th anniversary of the Covenant of Mayors initiative launched by the European Commission.

All committed cities and members of the Covenant Community are invited to get together for the Covenant of Mayors Investment Forum & Ceremony on 21-22 February 2018 to take stock of the results achieved, discuss joint challenges such as investment, multi-level collaboration and mobility, meet the newly set-up EU Covenant Political Board, and pull-up strengths for the next steps.

Join us in February in Brussels to make our common vision of sustainable, resilient and vibrant cities come true!
