Polis organises ITF summit side event on road safety in cities and regions

The side event will discuss innovative practice in road safety and how this can be deployed by local and regional authorities, which represent an important level of governance in addition to countries, when it comes to tackling the global road safety challenge. Urban areas accounted for more than one third of EU road fatalities in 2016 and 68% of them were pedestrians and two-wheelers, which clearly signals the need for urgent action and for identifying the most effective ways to protect all road users.

The side event adresses questions such as:

  • What are the keys to success in effective local road safety policies?
  • How to address safety and sustainability in an integrated way?
  • Which safety data is most needed by cities?
  • Can vehicles become safer for all road users?

Please find the list of speakers in the event flyer.
