POLIS joins TDA Call to Support Active Mobility Capacity Building
Great news! We are happy to announce we have signed the Transport Decarbonisation Alliance (TDA)'s Call to Support Active Mobility Capacity Building. Join us in advocating for the importance of better active mobility training in the pathway for more liveable cities!
POLIS is happy to have joined hands with the TDA by signing their Call to Support Active Mobility Capacity Building!
The Call urges all parties to the UNFCCC and global financial institutions to invest $100 million in the training of 10.000 mobility professionals for the planning, design, operations and promotion of walking and cycling as alternative modes of transport. The idea is that such an investment will provide local governments with the technical expertise necessary to operate and promote sustainable urban mobility systems to global best practice standards.
Moreover, TDA also calls for the creation of regional centres where local governments can obtain the required funding streams and gain full access to global and regional best practices. The aim is to build a local knowledge base and create a pipeline of projects that will guarantee sustained, high-quality investment in active mobility on a worldwide scale.
At POLIS, we fully recognize the need and the relevance of improving training for active mobility in the pathway for more liveable cities. Indeed, we share with TDA the belief that investing in capacity building for active mobility will, amongst many other things, increase safety, inclusivity, health, and quality of space and help shape the future of cities positively. Now more than ever, it is essential to provide professionals and cities with the adequate tools to have active mobility leading to more sustainable urban mobility.
