Future urban mobility, AVs and CO2 reduction to be discussed at Smart City Expo World Congress 2018

On Tuesday 13 November, the session Preparing for the Mobility Ecosystems of the Future (13:50 – 14:40) will address the emergence of new technologies and their impact on mobility. The experts invited to contribute to this session will dive into topics such as the use of data in mobility, autonomous vehicles and urban logistics. The Chief Technology Officer of Polis Member Amsterdam, Gert Baron, will speak in the session.

On Wednesday 14 November, the session Connected Vehicles and the Road Ahead (11:45 - 11:50) promises to spark very interesting discussions on the deployment of automated vehicles, its future trends and the role of governments in its regulation.

The topic of Pedestrian-Friendly and Zero-Emission Cities will be the core of a session on Thursday 15 November (09:30 - 09:35). In a very content-rich programme will explore solutions like pedestrian areas, low-emission vehicles and bike-sharing schemes, and their contribution to a more sustainable urban mobility and less polluted cities. Polis Member Barcelona will present the city’s Sustainable Mobility Strategy during this session.

World Smart City Awards

Presented on the last day of the Congress, the World Smart City Awards seek to recognize pioneering projects, ideas and strategies that promote sustainable urban development around the globe. The winners will be announced at 7pm on November 14 in the awards ceremony of the Smart City Expo World Congress. The City Award will be awarded to a city for the development of global strategies combining projects, initiatives and policy implementations for their citizens. The Mobility Award will be awarded to the most innovative and successful project being implemented and developed in the field of mobility. Other award categories include urban environment, digital transformation, governance & finance, and inclusive & sharing cities.
