European Commission launches survey to improve air quality monitoring

The European Commission is conducting a survey to help strengthen air quality monitoring and modelling.

The Commission’s public consultation, “Strengthening of air quality monitoring, modelling and plans under the Ambient Air Quality Directives” will collect technical suggestions for improvements to current EU clean air legislation.

Transport is a major cause of air pollution. Reduction of transport emissions is one of the key objectives of the European Commission, and a topic POLIS is working closely with its members to address.

To support improvements, the Commission is seeking to gather inputs from policymakers, civil servants, air quality experts, practitioners and civil society specifically on their monitoring, modelling and implementation procedures.

The survey takes approximately 25-35 minutes to complete.
